Summary Repairs and overhauls automobiles, trucks, trailers and other automotive
vehicles by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Rebuilds, replaces, or repairs major vehicle components, assemblies and systems
including transmissions, suspensions, etc.
Checks and repairs electrical and cooling systems.
Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding
broken parts.
Performs tune-ups, regular vehicle maintenance and preventative care as needed.
Removes any defective parts and replaces them with refurbished, rebuilt or new parts.
Responsible for ongoing maintenance.
Operates vehicles as needed.
Plans work procedure.
Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to
underside of vehicle.
Removes unit such as engine, transmission, or differential.
Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
Rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.
Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and
solders leaks in radiator.
Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios,
heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
Cleans and organizes personal tool box, work area and tools/equipment being used on
each job.
Personal Cell Phone usage is limited to emergency call only or business related. Please
notify your supervisor prior taking/making personal emergency or business-related calls.

Education and/or Experience
One years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
